7.1 - Don't Overthink Test Day

We're rounding out our course with some general score and admissions advice. We'll keep these lessons short and sweet so you can get back to the real work, practicing questions.

First up, don't overthink test day.

Dos and Don'ts

Here's a list of things to do and to avoid leading up to your test day.

Do:

• Prioritize your sleep.
• Nourish yourself. If this means a big breakfast, have one. If it means waiting to eat till you're done, do that.
• Things you enjoy leading up to your test.
• Have an idea in mind for how you'll manage test anxiety—this could be box breathing, meditation, a mantra, you name it.
• Check your equipment beforehand
• Take at least one practice test before sitting the real thing

Don't:

• Try to cram. You can't meaningfully improve your jump shot the day of the game.
• Stop studying when you're done. You should be prepared to take the test multiple times and you'll only get rusty while you wait for your score.
• Forget to take your writing sample.
• Let the clock boss you around. I always recommend clicking it to turn it off as soon as your test begins.
• Immediately hop on Reddit afterward to see how many people agree with you that this was the hardest LSAT ever administered—it wasn't.

Like most of my advice throughout this course, take it with a grain of salt and in all things, know thyself. Do whatever's necessary for you to go into test day calm and collected and curate an environment that minimizes stress.
